FormView is the new feature in the ASP.NET 2.0, for display the data in the FormView control; we use the Eval method in the ItemTemplate.

In the following example, we have used the FormView control and by using the Bind method, we bind the data bound field in the ItemTemplate.

In the FormView, we have used the SqlDataSource, which fetch the data from the Database.

<asp:FormView ID="FormViewStudent" DataSourceID="SqlDataSourceStudent" DataKeyNames="StudentID"

            runat="server">

            <ItemTemplate>

                <table>

                    <tr>

                        <td align="right">

                            <b>Student ID:</b></td>

                        <td>

                            <%# Eval("StudentID") %>

                        </td>

                    </tr>

                    <tr>

                        <td align="right">

                            <b>Student Name:</b></td>

                        <td>

                            <%# Eval("Name") %>

                        </td>

                    </tr>

                    <tr>

                        <td align="right">

                            <b>Student Section:</b></td>

                        <td>

                            <%# Eval("Section") %>

                        </td>

                    </tr>

                    <tr>

                        <td align="right">

                            <b>Contact Number:</b></td>

                        <td>

                            <%# Eval("Contact") %>

                        </td>

                    </tr>

                </table>

            </ItemTemplate>

        </asp:FormView>

We will also add the data source control (SqlDataSource) in the page, I have mentioned the code below:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSourceStudent" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [StudentRecords]" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Student %>runat="server"></asp:SqlDataSource>

Happy Coding!
